About

The Celia Hammond Animal Trust operates in London and throughout the South East to help stray, abandoned and unwanted animals.

Our Aims and Objectives

To provide care and refuge for cats and kittens both feral and domestic and for those animals which on the basis of age, temperament or appearance would not normally be taken in elsewhere.

To promote the welfare of animals through example and education

To humanely reduce the population of dogs and cats, both pedigree and mongrel in the UK by neutering, as opposed to the current situation where hundreds of thousands of healthy but unwanted or stray animals are being destroyed simply because there are not enough homes to go around.

To provide low cost neuter/vaccination clinics for animals belonging to people on benefit or those unable to afford private veterinary fees.

To provide low cost treatment in our clinics for sick/injured animals whose owners do not qualify for help from the major charities but who cannot afford private veterinary fees.

To operate a rescue service for animals, both domestic and feral, in emergency situations through calls from the public, local authorities and the police.

To provide long and short-term sanctuary accommodation and rehoming facilities for rescued animals.

To investigate complaints of cruelty and neglect and to take appropriate action.

The Trust has a strict non-destruction policy unless animals are suffering with a terminal illness or are hopelessly injured and beyond any veterinary help.

Reviews

Grateful for all the care they have provided our two kittens with, both before and after their adoption. Everyone from the receptionists to the vets work hard at Celia Hammond for the benefit of the animals to give them a second chance at a good home. Also, please please please neuter your cats if you haven't already!

I was directed here by helpful vet nurse who saw my distress on not being able to pay what my dog needed by/from the vet. I got what was required at a third what I'd been quoted. My dog was treated and home that same day.

Well i have to say we go here every year for the vaccine and every time its been treat us well and a good price too we haven't had any type of problems the Vets are very kind so is all good the 4 stars is bcos well the place is over load with posters and a bit untidy my opinion to much it can make it more simple and a bit more professional and it should tell people how to be considered about others when in come to wait to see the Vet as you can see some people don't bother about other they just take the whole space to themselves

The actions of this group in Lewisham are disgraceful, they have around 350 cats in cages in a basement for up to 3 years and yet carry out extreme vetting over months which refuses people cats for the most spurious of reasons. The people carrying out the vetting are weird, cold rude people who made many arduous home inspections asking us to carry out completely unnecessary works eg to boundaries. They determined we would have to have two older semi feral black cats and then sat in a car outside our house for 20 minutes and said the traffic was too bad and we couldn't have a cat, only later did we realise that traffic was diverted to or street that day due to roadworks! Don't give them any money. How can anyone sane think keeping an animal in a cage for 3 years when a loving 99.9% safe home is available is a good life for a cat.
